Once a recreational runner, Chris started to focus on coaching while managing a local running store, with a goal of someday running the Boston Marathon, which she did twice. In 2018 she raced her first 50K and 50 Miler. Seen as an active athlete on the CT Shoreline, she has coached local runners from completing their first 5K to qualifying for their own Boston.
Always looking for new ways to grow as an athlete, Chris found the sport of Triathlon and has completed 6 Half Iron Distance and IRONMAN Lake Placid. With her running and endurance background, she started to develop the technique and coaching strategies needed for the swim and bike, and how to put the three sport together, in races and in life!
A NASM Personal Trainer and 500h Registered Yoga Teacher, Chris understands the importance of functional strength and flexibility work in combination with a healthy mindset to keep athletes moving towards their goals.
Chris approaches coaching the way she approaches everything she does...with passion and professionalism. One of the most special qualities about Chris and her coaching is that she gets to know each athlete as an individual, and based on what they need, she uses her experience and knowledge to construct an individualized training plan. She helped me train for my first half marathon and I was able to run it with the utmost amount of confidence! Chris wants each and every one of her athletes to reach their full potential and will do everything she can to make that happen. -----Emily A.
Not only is Chris knowledgeable and organized....following her plan will lead you to success! -----Michelle B.
Chris Kopcha took me from a place of just wanting to lose some weight and be in better shape and landed me in a place where I was running 5K’s, 10K’s and three half-marathons in all kinds of weather! She took me to this place by focusing on my identifiable goals as well the goals that she knew that I could reach but was not yet ready to admit to myself!-----Jonathan F.
I hired Chris in the summer to put together training plan for two half marathons I was running in the fall. While I had followed other plans before, I had never worked with a coach...I was a bit anxious. But Chris always made me feel like I was progressing and doing well. Three thing I got out of this---being held accountable gets you working harder, doing things I never would have done myself like running hills and doing sprints, and great encouragement when I didn't feel like I was making my goals. I would totally recommend Chris for a coach...she ROCKS!-----Cheryl C.
