The Dark Side of Running

September 25, 2019

HAPPY FALL Y’ALL!!!

The only dark side of running for this girl is the after sunset-before sunrise kind!

As the days get shorter and the nights get longer we have 3 choices.

1. Hibernate (NO!)

2. Move indoors to a treadmill (YUCK)

3. Pull out the reflective gear and blink-y lights!

If you have never run in the dark before, there is something magical about exploring your city or town after hours. But with all that darkness comes reduced visability for drivers. So here are a few of Coach Kopcha’s Nighttime Running Favorites!

The Good Old Fashioned Reflective Vest. Probably your most price-fiendly option. Can be found in any sporting goods store.

For those of you looking for something sligtly more adjustable, check out the Xinglet. I like the fact that you can easily clip a blink-y light on the front and back!

My current fav....Noxgear Tracer 360! A variety of color options and strobe light effects all in one! There is no way I will NOT be seen in this baby!

The Head Lamp! A favorite for so many! I only where mine with a winter hat as I have never liked the way it feels directly on my forhead, and I feel that the brim of a cap blocks the light...but to each their own!

Last but not least, Knuckle Lights! Use one or two, they click on and off with your thumb and slide easily over your fingers in the same way a hand held water bottle does. I like the fact that I can shine the light where ever I want...including waving it around to catch the attention of any driver I feel doesn't see me!

The days will start getting longer again SUNDAY DECEMBER 22! Until then, enjoy the cools temps that come with this time of year and remember that FALL PRs are built from SUMMER SWEAT! Happy running!
