As most of us continue to slow things down while staying home, I’ve noticed people getting back to hobbies that we don’t always have time to do: Cooking, baking, music, art, puzzles, reading….

So to help give you something to do, here are three of my favorite Triathlon/Running related books!

In Eat and Run, Scott Jurek opens up about his life and career – as an elite athlete and a vegan – and inspires runners at every level. As a child in the Midwest, he came from a  meat-and-potatoes family, and initially hated running. This follows his  transition to ultrarunning and veganism, to his world-spanning, record-breaking races, BONUS…incudes  some of his favorite recipes. The pacakes are my favorite!

An oldie, but a goodie! No Need for Speed   and The Couage to Start were two of the first books I read as a new runner that encouraged me to keep getting out the door and put one foot in front of the other.

John “The Penguin” Bingham has helped  thousands of dedicated runners learn that the greatest joy in their sport comes not from how fast they go or how thin they become, but from simply having the courage to take the first step.

The most recent book on our list. I read Finding my Voice as I was building toward my first Ironman. Mike Reilly, know to many as the “Voice of Ironman, tells us some of the stories shared with him by hundreds of Ironman athlete around the world. Every year, thousands of  people around the world compete in a series of long-distance triathlons, testing the limits of their physical abilities and mental toughness. Some do it for glory, some to test themselves, some to honor lost loved ones, some to bring healing to their  lives. These stories are truly inspirational.

Over the years, hundreds of Ironman athletes have shared their tales with Reilly. In this book, he tells some of the stories that have touched and inspired him, in the hope that they will do the same for the listener.
